MLBB Tips and Tricks: Did Mobile Legends make a mistake by removing Twilight Armor?

Did Mobile Legends Make a Mistake by Removing Twilight Armor?

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is always changing. Every new patch brings hero buffs, nerfs, item updates, and meta shifts that change how the game is played. Sometimes these updates make the game more balanced, but sometimes they leave players wondering if an old feature was actually better.

One of the biggest changes was the removal of Twilight Armor. For many tank players, it wasn’t just another defence item. It was one of the best ways to survive heavy burst damage from late-game heroes.

Today, Guardian Helmet has taken its place, but does it really do the same job?

Let’s take a closer look at how both items work and why many players still believe Twilight Armor was one of the best defensive items in MLBB.

What Made Twilight Armor Special?

Twilight Armor was built to protect tanks and fighters from huge burst damage.

When an enemy hero landed a powerful attack, Twilight Armor reduced part of that damage before it hit your HP. This gave tanks a much better chance of staying alive during team fights.

It was especially useful against heroes that could delete you with one or two skills.

If you were the frontliner, Twilight Armor helped you stay in the fight longer and protect your teammates.

Guardian Helmet Works Differently

After the equipment update, Twilight Armor was removed and Guardian Helmet became one of the main defensive choices for tank heroes.

At first glance, both items help you survive.

But they work very differently.

Twilight Armor
- Reduced burst damage before you lost HP.
- Great against one-shot heroes.
- Perfect for late-game team fights.
- Couldn’t be weakened by anti-heal effects.

Guardian Helmet
- Restores HP after taking heavy damage.
- Gives a large amount of Max HP.
- Great for longer fights.
- Healing can be reduced by anti-heal items.

This means Guardian Helmet is not a direct replacement. It focuses more on healing than preventing damage.

Why Burst Heroes Feel Stronger

The current MLBB meta is full of heroes that can deal massive damage in just a few seconds.

Heroes like Lesley, Aldous, and Novaria can remove a huge chunk of your HP before you even have time to react.

If you die instantly, healing after the damage doesn’t help.

That’s why many tank players prefer damage reduction over delayed healing.

The Anti-Heal Problem

Another issue is that Guardian Helmet depends on healing.

If the enemy team buys anti-heal items, your healing becomes much weaker.

This makes Guardian Helmet less reliable during late-game team fights.

Twilight Armor never had this problem because it blocked damage instead of healing it back.

Is Guardian Helmet a Bad Item?

Not at all.

Guardian Helmet is still one of the best HP items in Mobile Legends.

It gives: - Huge Max HP - Strong HP regeneration - Better sustain between fights - Great value for tank heroes

The problem is that it fills a different role. Guardian Helmet helps you recover after taking damage. Twilight Armor helped you survive the damage in the first place.

How the Current Meta Has Changed

The current meta is much faster than before.

Heroes deal more burst damage, true damage is more common, and fights end quickly.

Because of this:
- Tanks get melted faster.
- Marksmen become stronger in the late game.
- Positioning is more important than ever.
- Building the right defensive items matters in every match.

Playing a tank today requires smarter item choices and better timing.

Should Twilight Armor Come Back?

Bringing back the old Twilight Armor exactly as it was might not be the best solution.

The problem is that it fills a different role. Guardian Helmet helps you recover after taking damage. Twilight Armor helped you survive the damage in the first place.

However, Mobile Legends could introduce a new anti-burst item that:
- Reduces high burst damage.
- Has a cooldown to keep it balanced.
- Helps tanks survive without making them impossible to kill.
- Adds more build options for different team compositions.

This would make defensive builds more interesting while keeping the game fair.

Final Verdict

Twilight Armor and Guardian Helmet are designed for different situations.

Guardian Helmet is great for staying healthy during long fights, but Twilight Armor was much better at protecting tanks from sudden burst damage.

As the MLBB meta continues to evolve, having a dedicated anti-burst defensive item could give tanks more choices and make frontline gameplay more rewarding.

For now, tank players need to rely on smart positioning, the right build, and good teamwork to survive against today’s high-damage heroes.
